The Nantahala National Forest in western North Carolina is one of my favorite natural destinations in the southeast

but the wildflowers really captivated me

It's gotten to the point where tourists now ask me for directions on the streets (pats self on back)

This was definitely a trail that required TWO hiking sticks (so as not to careen down a sheer rock face into the water)

But I also like it because of the lower angle of the light at that time of year. Everything becomes more engaging when it casts a shadow or forms a cool silhouette.
