Giovanni Canonica Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont 2018, 75cl leo with a very long finish2018 is a stunning vintage for Canonica. A moderately cool spring gave way to a dry June and then an intensely warm summer. Localised hail in September diluted grapes for early pickers, but those who held on until October were rewarded with excellent phenolic ripeness. Expert red fruits and forest floor notes, and a palate rich in black and red cherries, blood orange, and dried roses. Matured in neutral oak barrels. Pair with lamb shanks in a rich jus.
