I think either the lid or the bottom are a tiny bit deformed

I still think it should be taken in for a check up at as it seems to stick a bit

The close-up pictures make it look browner or lighter than it is

1940 8mm MG Tracer Ammo Box wehrmacht I think either the lidOriginal 1940 wood box for 8mm tracer ammo. It would have contained a single cardboard sleeve of tracers. Since you only typically loaded every 5 round or so in an MG belt with tracer ammo they opted for packaging the tracers in an individual box where as more normal ammo would have been packed in a crate usually containing 5 boxes. The condition is not fantastic, but it is pretty typical for these boxes. The side wood typically shrinks and separates.
