茶室の誕生からおよそ400年間に実在した利休や織部や光琳の名茶室から、雪隠、水遣、中潜など茶室の周辺まで、創意あふれる「起し絵図」をご紹介します。折りたたまれた紙を起こし、紙の爪を差し込むことで糊をつかわずに自立するように工夫されています。数寄とは「好き」ということ。寸法や材料が細かく描き込まれ、建築の知識や技術がない数寄者が常識に囚われない「好み」を表現するのを大いにたすけました。この小さな茶室模型は、茶匠から工匠(数寄屋大工)に手渡され、工匠がそれを読み解いて施工しました。いまから90年前に、茶道家に伝来する「起こし絵図」を集めて限定出版した三昧社版『数寄屋おこし絵図』(1931年刊行)から、いずれも1点限りのご案内です。→「数寄屋おこし絵図」商品一覧をみる
