the South Fork Kishwaukee River begins to freeze from the edges inward as the afternoon sunlight illuminates this landscape giving the river an amazing deep color blue

I reached the trailhead soon after leaving the house with camera gear in hand and it wasn't long before I started seeing the wildflowers along the lake which included cup plants

I was looking for some good wildflower composition to photograph with the sunrise and came upon this scene of common milkweed in beautiful condition

It wasn't hard to notice all the false sunflowers that were in perfect condition and thought that they would be perfect to photograph

I focused my attention on the wildflowers as the morning brightened up
